Meet Our Family

Hi there! We would love for you to meet our family!
We are so happy that you stopped by!

Hi there! We’re so glad you stopped by and would love for you to get to know our family.

Our story began over 36 years ago when we committed to a lifetime together at the young ages of 20 and 22. Three years later, we built our home and have lived there ever since, in the same community where we both grew up.

Over the years, life has been full and wonderful — we’ve raised two amazing children, cared for more than 50 animals, homeschooled, and managed work and home businesses. Our kids grew up loving the country life, spending time with horses, dogs, cats, goats, and bunnies, riding dirt bikes, 4-wheelers, tri-rods, tractors, and snowmobiles.

In the winters, you’d find us on the ski slopes, and in the summers, at our lake house enjoying time on the ski boat.

Since 2017, our family has grown with five new additions: a son-in-law (2017), a daughter-in-law (2019), and three beautiful granddaughters (2018, 2020, 2022).

Meet our family…Get to know us better…

Meet Lisa Hartzler

As you read this, I’m probably wearing jeans, barefoot, and enjoying time in my lavender field (in summer, of course!).

People often assume I’m an extrovert, but I’m actually an ambivert. I come from a big, lively family — our siblings, nieces, and nephews total 83 people! (Yes, you read that right.)

I’m a DIY kind of gal and love making and creating. I’ve been an entrepreneur for over 30 years, building businesses that reflect my love of faith, nature, and meaningful work.

But my favorite role of all? Being a Mammy (Grandma). There’s nothing quite like spoiling my granddaughters and watching them grow.

Meet Bob Hartzler

Bob is probably nearby, sipping coffee and quietly listening to the conversation.

He has worked in machine maintenance for over 35 years, and I’m constantly amazed at everything he can do. He loves working with his hands — he can fix or build almost anything. This also explains why I rarely get anything new around here; he even fixed the microwave we’ve had since 1989! Who keeps a microwave for 36 years?

Bob enjoys working, building, and supporting our family in every way.

Meet the Jeremy, Shelby, Haven, Halle & Harbor Busman

Shelby is our first-born, and from the very start, we knew she would do something great. She’s full of life, intense, and a bit strong-willed — which makes perfect sense that she became a firefighter and EMT. She served our community for many years and now is a devoted mom of three sweet little girls, homeschooling them while also making delicious sourdough bread for a local market and helping me with lavender products.

Jeremy, her husband, moved here from Michigan — he didn’t really have a choice if he wanted to marry her! On one of their first dates, she boldly told him, “Well, I’ll tell you right now, I’m not moving to Michigan.” Their relationship moved quickly, which is very Shelby — fast and full of life. They met in March 2016, he moved here that September, proposed in October, and married on July 1, 2017.

Together, they have three daughters: Haven (born July 15, 2018), Halle (February 1, 2020), and Harbor (May 17, 2022). Jeremy’s background is in lawn care, and he currently works as a lawn care supervisor for a wonderful local business. At home, he’s definitely outnumbered — not just by Shelby and the girls, but also by a few female cats and bunnies. Recently, they added a male rabbit and a new male puppy, Thatcher, to the family.

Haven is 7 and looks just like her mom. She’s funny, loves to learn, and picks up on things quickly.
Halle is almost 6, doing kindergarten with her mom, and thriving. She entertains herself easily and gives the best hugs.
Harbor is 3.5 years old — the sweetest but busiest of the bunch. She loves keeping up with her big sisters and proudly announces, “I can do it!”

Meet Nate & Hope Hartzler and their GoldenDoodle, Hank

Nate is calm, cool, and collected — always been our thinker. Once, when he was about six, he was sitting on the recliner, doing nothing. I asked what he was thinking about, and he said, “I’m thinking about how I can make a lot of money without doing anything.”

In reality, Nate is a hard worker and mechanically minded, just like his dad (and both grandpas!). He’s very talented and has completed many home projects with little assistance. Nate works in hydraulics for his day job and is a leather craftsman on the side. I’ve told him to let me know when he figures out that “make-money-without-doing-anything” plan!

This is his wife, Hope. They married on July 20, 2019. Hope is definitely an overachiever and does everything to perfection. She became a dental hygienist, graduating in May 2019 while simultaneously planning their wedding that July. She works hard at everything she does, and together, they make a wonderful couple. We are grateful for the amazing wife she is to Nate and thankful for another daughter in our family.

And then there is Hank. He’s super sweet and a little ornery too!
